A seasoned investor for more than 20 years, she has a reputation for instinctively spotting value, negotiating hard, and guiding buyers to smart, strategic decisions.

As CEO of Property Women and founder of Advocate Property Services (est. 2011), Jo blends data, her strong networks, strategy and street-smart experience to help women and investors build wealth with confidence.

Jo works extensively with women, empowering them to take financial control through education, clarity and smart investing.

I work a lot of Saturdays. Being in real estate weekend planning can be a tricky beast to navigate. I have 3 very sporty kids so it would be a very rare weekend that you won’t find me on the sideline of a sport field at some point!

Travelling, I would sooner forego other pleasures in the pursuit of seeing more of the world and sharing those experiences with my family and friends.

Probably my music taste. My face doesn’t match the genre!

That you have to work HARD to make it. You do need persistence, the right attitude and tenacity. I catch myself in this trap a lot. I have a tendency to work more than I probably should.

Go for a walk - no podcast, no music. So good for mental health and to stir up great ideas. Rests your brain too!

'If you don't ask, the answer is always no' I often ask uncomfortable questions on behalf of my clients and I figure, the worst thing that can happen is that they say no!

Ladies who love her

I met Jo right at the time when we were thinking of buying an investment property. After talking with her I realised that she was very enthusiastic and would go above and beyond to find us a good property. However, not only did she do this but she did all the negotiating for us with the vendor’s agent to get us a great price. She then also found us a managing agent and the most unbelievable tenants. (Our managing agents can’t even believe how good our tenants are!). We are extremely happy with the service provided by both Jo and Greg and would not hesitate to use them again in the future for our next property.

I first met Jo at a business networking meeting about two and a half years ago. Immediately, I was impressed with her and not long after engaged her as our buyers agent to find our first investment property. In searching for a property Jo really thought outside the box and found us a property with a ‘twist’ so that with the rental income it yielded it was positively geared right from the start. We have since bought two other properties through Jo and one of those, which settled in January of this year (2014) and for which we paid $335,000 (and spent $30,000 on a cosmetic renovation) has just been valued by the bank at $489,000.
