Estate Planner
I am passionate about empowering women through proactive estate planning. Whether it's a simple will, setting up testamentary trusts, addressing blended family complexities, self-managed superannuation funds (SMSFs), company and family trust succession plans – whatever it is, I firmly believe in the power of planning.
By taking control of their plans, women can secure their family's future and shape a legacy that embodies their values and love.
I've first became a lawyer approximately 14 years ago in New Zealand. I moved to Brisbane in 2012 and was admitted to the Supreme Court of QLD in the same year. I started my own boutique estate planning law firm smack bang in the middle of Covid (yes, one of those people ;) I've never looked back! So many people have helped me get here but initially I think of my mum who encouraged me to pursue legal studies. My mum passed away before my graduation, but I hold her memory dear to my heart and to the heart of my approach to my work. I love what I do. I love helping women take control of their lives through estate planning.
My lived experience of losing my mother at a young age was one of the reasons for me to choose estate planning as my chosen area of the law. My mum passed away quite young, age 44 years; within 6 months of being diagnosed with cancer. She died without a Will. She died without getting robust legal and financial advice around her estate planning options. I remember her scrambling to try and get more life insurance but it was too late. Then I remember the funeral and the reality of post-death family dynamics. There is a lot that goes on amidst the depths of grief. Long-story-short, I use my experiences to drive my passion for my work and to impart knowledge with others. Testamentary Trusts are my favourite estate planning tool! I talk about them to every client that I speak with. I absolutely LOVE the work I do :)
